The Bakers of La Rose Bakery

Maggie Lizzi and Cosimo Lizzi took a gamble on each other. They took over La Rose Bakery in 1982, young, married, and with two children, hoping to work together to build a prosperous company. Cosimo wanted to change careers, swapping early mornings on the building site for morning hours in front of the revolving stone oven. Apparently, it was a departure from his Italian civil engineering education. Maggie backed him up from the start, carving out her own spot in the storefront, welcoming and serving customers seven days a week. Despite the fact that the bakery company was a new venture for both of them, they were not unfamiliar with the industry.

The Clan

What about the Lizzi family? They’ve all arrived. Maggie and Cosimo are both here every day, and their children have joined them. Their son, Sal, is the manager, and he can be found in the storefront every day of the week. Domenic, their other son, operates the garden centre in the summer and developes new bread recipes. Emily, their daughter, is in charge of the pastry department, where she creates pieces of art. Their daughter Maria has started her own successful company, Mompreneurs, but she still works behind the scenes at La Rose.

Also present are Maggie and Cosimo’s nieces, Emilia and Rosa, who have worked at La Rose for nearly two decades. The pair welcome customers by name and memorizing their orders. Patsy, their niece, is always willing to assist with customer orders and provide the best party planning tips. And the entire La Rose crew, are the friendly faces you’ll see every time you come in.

Since 1982, La Rose Bakery has matured, and we hope it will continue to do so and support the growing Milton community. We will always follow Maggie and Cosimo’s original motto: provide our customers with fresh food.
