A bridal treasure box with dress. Lucy Bingham married in Birmingham, Alabama on the 26th June 1922. She lovingly kept her dress & all that accompanied it on her special day preserved in a small floral box. One hundred years later there was a slight whiff of perfume as the box was opened. Inside was her garter, long silk gloves, silk hankie, veil, silk jersey dress, camisole, miniature bible & bridal prayer book, flower girl dress & even the receipt for her wedding day flowers lilies & sweet peas. It is being sold together as is was stored away exactly 100 years ago. The dress is in remarkable absolutely wearable condition. Made of the most beautiful fabric.. off-white silk jersey in a simple straight design typical of the 1920s. The dress is embroidered with gray glass beads at the front & edges & it has two fly panels at the side of the dress which gives it wonderful movement when you walk. Three quarter sleeves & a matching sash belt. The dress has some slight markings on the skirt, sleeve & a repair to one shoulder. See last photo. I would describe these flaws as minor. The floral box contains all the above items. The leather wedding booklet has the wedding vows printed inside & the bride’s name. Items in box are in various degrees of condition. The small folded embroidered tulle veil is in excellent condition as is the hankie. Camisole needs cleaning & small repair. Included are around 50 loose glass beads that were in the box. This wedding set was placed in auction by Lucy’s daughter. Size small (meant to be worn loose) Dress Bust 36″ Waist 38″ Hips 40″ Length 42″ Shoulders (dolman sleeve) 16″ Sleeve length 14″ Note. The wedding vows book has the name Edith Bingham & 1927.
