Description
A fascinating, charming & unique little locket pendant from the Georgian period. Made of thickly gold plated yellow metal, it has superb ornate hand chased & engraved decoration throughout. It’s set with both its original beveled glasses – one to each side, so you can see all the way through. But the main event is inside: a very unusual double layered woven hair display in & encircling a solid gold wedding ring. The locket dates from around 1830/40, meaning the ring is probably a few decades older still. I’ve had a really good look but can’t make out any hallmarks on the ring – they may be there, but obscured by the hair – to find out would mean destroying the locket as the glasses are non-removable. My guess is that this is a mourning piece containing the wedding ring & hair of a loved one so it’s also extremely sad – but amazing it’s made it this far in such excellent condition. It measures just over an inch in diameter & weighs 9.1 grams in total. All my items are guaranteed 100% as described or your money back, so buy with confidence! What’s more, I offer layaway deals so there’s no need to let any of my listings slip through your fingers – just ask! For security all items are stored in a bank’s safe deposit box & sent fully insured for peace of mind. Antique Georgian English Gold Locket Pendant with Wedding Ring Mourning Jewelry
