Description

Early 40’s Eisenberg ‘E’ Sterling Mid century design Floral Spray Clip. Octagons & Chaton Ice Swarovski Rhinestones. Signed: Script E, STERLING Circa: Early 1940’s ABOUT THE BROOCH: SPECTACULAR is the least I can say to describe this piece of Mid Century Eisenberg Jewellery. The clip is cast Sterling in a stylised “Floral Spay” form. The Swarovski Rhinestones are in pristine sparkling condition . Dominated at the top by a large chaton flower which forms the nucleus of a bunch of cascading drops some ribboned. The drops end in large & medium Octagonal Flower heads. This is a worthy addition to any collector or wearers collection & has added value in the Sterling Silver casting CONDITION: The brooch is in excellent vintage condition with very minor ageing to a few of the smaller chatons which in no way detracts from its dazzling beauty. Please see pics as they form part of the description COMPANY HISTORY: Eisenberg started using Rhinestone Costume Jewellery on their line of ‘high-end’ clothing pre-1930 to help sell it due to lagging sales. The jewellery was so successful they launched their own line of jewellery branded Eisenberg Ice in the 30’s. Sam Eisenberg later coined the brand name Eisenberg ‘Ice’ from the gangster term for diamonds, commonly used in the 1920’s. Eisenberg used many brand markings, when a new one was used the earlier were not necessarily ceased, which causes a small amount of confusion, so period styles, materials & background information from Eisenberg also need to be considered in placing a manufactured date on the piece. in some instances e.g. when space was limited Eisenberg used a script E signature. From the early 1930’s & through the 1950’s pieces were generally marked “EISENBERG”, “EISENBERG ICE” & “Eisenberg ORIGINAL” from 1955 EISENBERG (c) was used. As of the 70’s “EISENBERG ICE (c) was used. During the 2nd WW effort particularly when the US became involved around 1942 – 1945 Sterling Silver was used as a replacement material to “pot metal” which was a casting alloy heavily in demand for the war supply chain to manufacturing. .
